Genomics and Ireland – the perfect match

It’s an exciting time to be working in genomics, and there’s no better place to be doing it than Ireland.

Ireland and its population offer a unique combination of advantages to genomic research efforts:

  • Ireland has a large and relatively homogenous population compared to other Western countries, with larger families. This can be a powerful analytical tool when searching for disease-relevant variations in our genes.
  • Ireland also has statistically relevant sizes across a wide range of medical conditions.
  • Irish clinical infrastructure is concentrated, simplifying participation logistics.
  • Ireland enjoys close collaboration between its universities and hospitals.

GMI has been established to take full advantage of these national assets. We are a privately-held Irish life sciences company leading large-scale, population-based medical studies in Ireland, analysing the relationship between genomics, health and disease.

Together with our partners and volunteers, GMI is putting Ireland at the forefront of the worldwide surge in genomic research.
